I don’t know about you, but I have tried papaya many times and the flavour.. or aftertaste just doesn’t do it for me. So I never really wanted to eat it. That’s until I tried it at its perfect ripeness with lime squeezed all over it. I’m not sure where I first got the idea to try it this way, but this is now the ONLY way I will eat it. It’s such a refreshing snack…. the sweetness of the papaya and the sour lime juice is the perfect food marriage. I let the papaya ripen on the windowsill until it is completely yellow-orange in colour and has brown-green speckles all over the outside skin. If you gently squeeze the fruit, it should be soft. This will let you know that the papaya is ready to eat!!

Papaya snack

Ingredients:

  • 1 Ripe Papaya
  • 1 Lime

Directions:

  1. Cut up the papaya in small bite-size chunks; Cut the papaya lengthwise, scoop out the seeds, then gently cut off all the outside skin, put the papaya flesh on a cutting board, cut in strips, then into small chunks.
  2. Put cut up papaya in a bowl.
  3. Cut the lime in half (Depending on the juiciness and how much lime you like, you may just need half).
  4. Squeeze the lime over the papaya.
  5. Enjoy!
